Q: What do I have to do as a LoadTeam Tester?
A: As a LoadTeam tester, all you have to do is to signup as a tester, download a free app and leave it running on your computer.
Once the app is installed, it will contact the server from time to time to check if there are any tests to run.
If a test is found, the app will silently visit the site that needs to be tested and send the results to the LoadTeam server.
Once the test is completed, your account gets credited and the application starts checking in with the server again every now and then for new tests.
All of this happens automatically, so you don't have to do anything, apart from checking your balance and getting you money out whenever you want.
Q: LoadTeam is paying me for doing almost nothing. What is the "catch"?
A: LoadTeam is not giving money away: we are buying computer power from you.
In other words, LoadTeam "borrows" your computer power (processor, memory, internet and electricity) for the duration of the test.
This allows LoadTeam to offer its clients (people buying tests) a truly distributed load testing website.
This video explains how LoadTeam works and why testers are needed
Q: Can I use my computer while LoadTeam is running?
A: Yes, the client app is very light weight and it runs quietly in the Windows system tray (next to the clock).
Even when a test is underway, you will barely notice it's there.
Q: Does the LoadTeam app spy on my computer?
A: No, the client app simply visit sites that need to be tested and send the results to the LoadTeam server.
We take our user's privacy very seriously. Have a look at our privacy terms.
Q: How much will I make as a tester?
A: LoadTeam is NOT a get rich fast scheme.
As a LoadTeam tester, you will get paid 3 US$ cents whenever your computer is used for a paid test.
You should NOT view LoadTeam as a main source of income, but a nice little topup to your existing income.
Q: How do payments work?
A: All LoadTeam payments are via PayPal, so you must have a PayPal account before you signup as a LoadTeam tester.
LoadTeam uses PayPal's e-mail payment service, so the e-mail address on your LoadTeam account must be the same e-mail address on your PayPal account.
You can transfer money from LoadTeam to your PayPal account at any time, but the minimum transfer is 1 US dollar.
When you transfer money from LoadTeam to your PayPal account, you will receive an e-mail from PayPal informing you that you've received a payment from LoadTeam.
Once the money is in your PayPal account, you can spend it online at any site that accepts PayPal or you can withdraw the funds to your bank account or credit card.
LoadTeam will also provide you with PayPal's reference number for the transfer, but please notice that LoadTeam's responsibility ends at the time the money is transferred to your PayPal account. From that point on, it's between you and PayPal.
Q: I don't have a PayPal account. How do I open one?
A: Click here to open a PayPal account.
The e-mail address on your LoadTeam and PayPal account must be the same.
Q: How does the queue work?
A: Ideally, testers waiting for the longest should be the first ones in the queue, on a "first in, first served" basis. However, free tests make things a bit more complicated. Free tests should work as closely as possible to paid ones, which means free tests should use real testers. For that to happen, the number of free tests becomes the main criteria to determine the order of the tester in the queue. The waiting time becomes the secondary criteria, as shown by example queue below:
||17 minutes ago
||13 minutes ago
||15 minutes ago
||11 minutes ago
In the example above, even though Linda has been waiting in the queue for 15 minutes, which is longer than James' 13 minutes, James is higher up in the queue because James has executed 4 free tests compared to Linda's 2.
Q: I restarted my computer and lost by place in the queue. Why?
A: This is by design. The server needs to hear from the client software constantly to make sure the client software is ready to run a test as soon as is ordered. In other words, the client software must constantly contact the server in order to maintain its position in the queue.
Q: Do testers get paid for free tests?
A: No, but free tests help testers to get ahead in the queue, given the queue is ordered by the number of free tests executed and time waiting since last paid test or last connected.
Q: What are the system requirements to install the LoadTeam app?
A: In order to install LoadTeam, you need a PC with:
- Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 or later
- 1GB RAM
- 100MB free disk space
Q: Is there a version of LoadTeam client software for Mac/iPad/iPhone/Android, etc?
A: No, LoadTeam client is only available for Windows.
Q: How much data does the LoadTeam client software use?
A: It depends on how many tests are executed and how much data is consumed by each test. Apart from the data consumed by tests, LoadTeam also consumes data by periodically checking for new tests. For this reason, LoadTeam is better suited for testers with an unlimited internet plan.
